Is it zen or just confusing?

A tweet from a relative:

"If your friend is digging a big hole, whisper. A bird can sing with a broken wing, but you cannot pluck feathers from a frog. Then wink."

This is either incredibly awesome, or my relative is losing their marbles a little. Or perhaps both. What say you, non-existent readers? (Nearly wrote "What say you, madam foreperson of the jury". I have been watching quite a lot of Boston Legal. It is *so* good).

Also, it is nearly Christmas! Now that Nano and other various stressful (yet fun), things are over, *squee*! I must admit I am looking forward to time off, sleeping in, having loooong baths, reading lots of books and hanging out with mates. Also, summer and drinking.

That is all.

Truly, there speaks wisdom.

"If your friend is digging a big hole, whisper."

You whisper, so as not to draw attention and cause embarrassment. The topic of your whispering: "stop digging."

"A bird can sing with a broken wing, but you cannot pluck feathers from a frog."

It is better to be a broken bird than a frog. Frogs only croak, and don't have feathers. In fact, a frog can do nothing that a crippled bird can't do. Is a crippled bird then really so crippled?

"Then wink."

This is so clear I would not do it the disservice of commenting on it; I would only obscure its meaning.

Truly, truly zen.

"If your friend's name is Jack, write an uncomfortably homoerotic story about assisting in his digging enterprise. Include detailed descriptions of sweaty muscles, tiny shorts, etc. Disparage Jack's wife."

Argh, argh, making comments that make grammatical sense :S

Matt - You should become a uni English teacher, or some other kind of professional Bullshit Artist. To be the most kick-arse buddhist, though, you'll need to do a 45 minute meditation in 10. Perhaps the winking is akin to one hand clapping?

Chad - Yes! Plenty more insanity to be had down here. I look forward to it :)

Fraser - I'm pretty sure I read that story, and it was a little, um, odd. Perhaps to make the story extra squicky, the hole must represent something sexual yet forbidden.
